During the Christmas holidays the streets of Barcelona become a burst of creativity, light and color!

Christmas lights

from November 28 to January 6

During the 2019 Christmas campaign will be illuminated for the first time after many years different streets and squares of the city center.
For example, the Vía Laietana, the Urquinaona square, the surroundings of the Sant Antoni Market and the University square will be illuminated for the first time, the same as Sant Antoni (second year that lights up), the Paral·lel (between Cabanes and Margarit), Pelai, the Gran Via de Les Corts Catalanes (between Bailèn and Muntaner), Aragó (between Bailèn and Aribau), the Paseo de Gràcia and Avinguda Diagonal.
In total, Christmas lights will be installed along 100 kilometers of streets.

Santa Llucia Fair 2019

November 29 to December 23

Since 1786 the Santa Llúcia Fair, one of the most popular in the city, is organized in front of the Cathedral. You can find handicraft products and elements typical for Christmas parties. Every year more than two hundred stalls fill the Pla de la Seu and the Avenue of the Cathedral with a wide variety of products.
The positions are grouped into four main sectors. The manger and landscape accessories for the manger, baskets, figures, candles and Christmas decorations. In the green and vegetation section, there are natural or artificial trees, moss, Tios, cork and eucalyptus branches. In the handicraft sector, there are all kinds of handicraft products and accessories, such as clothing, jewelry, decorative and gift items. Finally, the music sector offers zambombas, tambourines and other instruments of the Christmas tradition.

The “Belen” of the square of Sant Jaume

The most anticipated, out of curiosity or to be criticized, is that of the Sant Jaume square.
The manger of the Sant Jaume square can be seen from November 29 to January 6, and contains everything that is needed to celebrate the festivities in the houses of the city. The proposal revolves around all boxes full of objects and souvenirs that are recovered for Christmas.
The installation is full of boxes of all kinds, large, small, of different materials, shoe boxes, other lined with paper… And inside each box, the objects that remind us that Christmas has arrived: the tureen, the galets, the glasses of cava, the grape, the polvorones, different mangers, small, large, with old and new figures, mounted, unassembled, wrapped garlands, Christmas trees, moss …
And, in addition, the installation has two faces: at the back of the boxes you can see a city with illuminated windows, lighted street lamps, cables that connect one house with the other…

New Year’s Eve Bells 2019



Starting at 9.30 p.m. on December 31, we said goodbye to the year with a great event on Avenida de la Reina Maria Cristina by Group F, one of the largest international companies, specialized on pyrotechnic shows and outdoor theater.
At 11.48 p.m. the original show will begin, which will last until 12.12 a.m.

Arrival of the Kings from the East to Barcelonat


Moll de la Fusta, on January 5, 2020 at 4:00 p.m.

At 4:00 p.m. on January 5, His Majesties the Kings will arrive at the port of Barcelona aboard Santa Eulàlia. 
After crossing the Mediterranean from the distant lands of the East, Melchor, Gaspar and Baltasar and their entourage of fantastic creatures will arrive at the Moll de la Fusta, where the mayor will receive them and give them the key to the city. Then the ride will begin on the main streets of Barcelona until it reaches the Magic Fountain, around nine o’clock at night. This year they are accompanied by a delegation of very curious characters, such as the Inventor of Toys, the Gift Wrapper or the Replantetor of Trees. In addition, naturally, of the Royal Pages that will collect the last letters with desires from the children, the Chariot of the Coal, the “Carameleras” and the “Carameleros”.
